Full Moon Nights are the crown jewel of the Rann Utsav experience. When the moon is full, the vast expanse of white salt crystals across the Rann of Kutch reflects the moonlight and creates an ethereal silver glow that stretches to the horizon. Experienced travellers often say that no photograph can truly capture what it feels like to stand on the White Rann under a full moon — which is exactly why it is such a popular choice for couple packages. Four full moon windows are confirmed for 2026-27: 22 – 25 November 2026, 21 – 24 December 2026, 20 – 23 January 2027, 18 – 21 February 2027. March closing-week dates were not yet confirmed at time of writing — check with us closer to the date.
Diwali Week (8 – 14 November 2026) falls in the first fortnight of the Rann Utsav season. The festival of lights is celebrated with traditional fanfare — diyas (oil lamps), rangoli patterns, and special cultural performances, making it a particularly rewarding time for family packages with children. Booking for Diwali week should be done by August–September at the latest.
The Christmas and New Year period (18 December 2026 – 2 January 2027) is the single busiest — and most expensive — period of the entire Rann Utsav season. The window contains the December full moon (21–24 Dec) as well as New Year's Eve, making it exceptionally popular with both Indian and international travellers. Book 4–6 months in advance for this window — check current tent-city rates and availability before you commit to dates.
Republic Day (26 January 2027) falls during the peak festival season and is celebrated with a special cultural programme at the Rann Utsav grounds. The patriotic atmosphere combined with the natural beauty of the White Desert makes this a particularly meaningful occasion to visit. The January full moon window (20–23 Jan) falls just days before Republic Day, and the Kite Festival (14 Jan) falls earlier the same month — making late January the densest stretch of events in the entire season.
