About the Festival
Rann Utsav is India's grandest desert festival — a 133-day celebration held each year from October to March in the White Rann of Kutch, Gujarat. Organised by the Gujarat Tourism department, it transforms one of the world's largest salt deserts into a vibrant canvas of colour, culture, and natural wonder.
At the heart of the festival lies the Dhordo Tent City — a luxury camp of Swiss tents, Rajwadi suites, and premium cottages set against the infinite white expanse of the Rann. Guests spend their evenings watching folk performances, their nights stargazing under skies untouched by light pollution, and their mornings exploring the surreal salt desert at sunrise.
The festival's most magical moments arrive on full moon nights, when the White Rann glows silver under the moonlight — an experience travellers describe as otherworldly. Beyond the Rann itself, the surrounding Kutch region offers a wealth of experiences: the ancient Harappan ruins at Dholavira, the flamingo sanctuary at Chhari Dhand, the black hill of Kalo Dungar with its panoramic views, and the vibrant craft bazaars of Bhuj.
Rann Utsav draws over 100,000 visitors from 50+ countries each season, making it one of India's most celebrated cultural tourism events. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or a corporate retreat — the White Rann offers an experience unlike any other.

Rann Utsav is an annual cultural extravaganza hosted by the Gujarat Tourism department in the heart of the White Rann of Kutch. Spanning over 133 days from October 2026 to March 2027, this iconic festival transforms the vast salt desert of Kutch into a vibrant celebration of art, culture, music, and natural beauty. The festival draws travellers from across India and around the world, making it one of the most celebrated tourism events on the Indian subcontinent.
The White Rann — a vast expanse of seasonally flooded salt marshland — stretches across 7,505 square kilometres and forms one of the world's largest salt deserts. During winter, when the floodwaters recede, the desert transforms into a pristine white canvas that shimmers under the moonlight. On full moon nights, the Rann glows silver under the open sky, creating a surreal, almost otherworldly experience that visitors describe as truly life-changing.
Our Rann Utsav booking packages are designed to suit every budget and travel style. Whether you are planning a romantic weekend getaway or a family holiday, we have the perfect package for you. Our prices are transparent — what you see is what you pay, with no hidden charges.

Rann Utsav offers a rare combination of natural wonder and cultural richness that is hard to find anywhere else in the world. The festival showcases the rich heritage of the Kutchi people — from intricate Ajrakh and Bandhani textiles to elaborate Kutchi embroidery. Every evening, the festival grounds come alive with performances of traditional Gujarati and Rajasthani folk music and dance, with Garba, Dandiya, and other regional forms performed under open skies against the backdrop of the white desert.
Special dates during the season attract the highest demand. Full Moon Nights — when the salt desert glows silver under the moonlit sky — are the most sought-after and sell out months in advance. The Dholavira Tent Cityis a separate experience — smaller, quieter, and set alongside the UNESCO-listed Harappan archaeological site of Dholavira on Khadir Island. This is ideal for heritage travellers who want both the desert experience and deep immersion in one of the world's oldest urban civilisations.
Both locations offer comparable tent comfort and dining experiences. The choice depends on your priorities: Dhordo for the full festival atmosphere and largest variety of activities; Dholavira for a quieter, more intimate experience combined with cultural tourism.

Most tent accommodations have connecting rooms or family suite options.
Rann Utsav couple packagescentre around the festival's most romantic elements: full moon nights on the white salt flats, private dining setups, spa facilities, and sunrise walks across the Rann. Valentine's Day (14th February) during the festival season is a particularly popular date for couples.
