Best Time to Travel from Vadodara

Vadodara is one of the closest large cities to the Rann — the journey is short, the road excellent, and the weather contrast pleasant. November to February is the strongest window: Vadodara winter is mild (15–28°C), and the Rann is at its coldest and clearest. Most Vadodara families time the trip to align with school holidays in late December or the Republic Day long weekend in late January. Avoid the first week of October when post-Navratri Vadodara traffic spills onto the highway, and skip late March when Bhuj daytime temperatures climb past 32°C. Weekday off-peak rates from Sunday to Wednesday give Vadodara guests the best value.

Vadodara Traveller Tips

Practical advice gathered from hundreds of Vadodara guests who have travelled with us to Rann Utsav over the past five seasons.

  • The Vadodara–Ahmedabad Expressway is one of Gujarat's best — 100 km in 1 hour 15 minutes. Use it for the first leg. From Ahmedabad, NH 27 is well-maintained.
  • For train travel, the Sayaji Nagari Express (19115) is the best Vadodara–Bhuj option. Departs Vadodara at 12:55 AM and reaches Bhuj at 7:30 AM — perfect for a same-morning Dhordo check-in.
  • Vadodara self-drive guests should fuel up at the IOC pump on the Vadodara–Ahmedabad Expressway. The next reliable pump on the Bhuj–Dhordo road is at Khavda.
  • For Vadodara families with school-going kids, plan the trip around the December school holidays. Book by mid-October as Vadodara-origin enquiries spike sharply in November.
  • Vadodara corporate offsites have grown — group of 15+ qualifies for our corporate rate. We have hosted teams from Reliance, Bombardier, and Schneider Electric over the past three seasons.
  • If travelling with a baby or toddler, the train option is far less stressful than the long drive — book AC 2-tier on the Sayaji Nagari Express.
