Best Time to Visit

The Rann Utsav 2026-27 season runs October 2026 – March 2027. The absolute best months are November, December, and January — nights are pleasantly cool (10–20°C), full moon nights illuminate the salt flats in ethereal silver light, and all activities are in full swing. Full moon nights sell out first — book those dates months in advance.

February and March are warmer but less crowded. Republic Day weekend (26 January) and Christmas–New Year week are also peak periods requiring early booking. Diwali week in October marks the opening of the season with a festive atmosphere.

What to Pack

  • 🧥
Warm layers for nights — temperatures drop to 8–15°C in December and January. A jacket is essential even in November.
  • 👟
Comfortable walking shoes — the White Rann surface is flat but firm; good sneakers work well.
  • 📷
Camera with low-light mode — ideal for full moon photography. Bring extra batteries as cold drains them faster.
  • 🧴
Sunscreen & sunglasses — salt flats reflect sunlight intensely. SPF 50+ and polarised lenses recommended.
  • 💧
Water bottle — stay hydrated in the dry desert air. The tent city provides water but carry some for daytime excursions.
  • 💳
Cash and photo ID — carry government-issued ID (Aadhaar/passport). Some stalls inside the festival may not accept cards.
