Plan Your Visit
Bangalore travellers see the biggest temperature contrast of any of our visitors. Bangalore in December averages 14–25°C; Dhordo at night drops to 7°C. The shock catches first-time visitors off-guard — pack heavy. Best windows for Bangalore guests are the Christmas–New Year stretch (your school holidays + perfect Rann weather) and the Republic Day long weekend in late January. February is also excellent and slightly less crowded. Skip late October — the BLR–AMD direct flight has fewer slots that month and prices spike. Avoid mid-March onward; daytime Rann temperatures climb past 32°C and the festival officially winds down by 31 March.
Day-by-Day
Morning IndiGo BLR–AMD flight (2 hr 5 min). Afternoon connection to Bhuj (1 hr) — or 4-hour road transfer if you prefer. Reach Dhordo by 6 PM, evening folk show and bonfire dinner.
Sunrise walk at 5:45 AM. Hot breakfast. ATV ride before lunch. Craft village handicraft session in the afternoon. Evening cultural performance, full moon viewing.
Either choose Kalo Dungar for sunrise (the panoramic view of the Rann is best at dawn) or take the longer Dholavira UNESCO trip (4 hours each way). Most Bangalore guests pick Kalo Dungar — it fits a half-day window.
Breakfast and final Rann walk. Check out by 11 AM. Bhuj lunch at Geeta Snacks. Afternoon flight to Bangalore via Ahmedabad. Reach BLR by 9 PM.

FAQ
No — there is no direct BLR–BHJ flight on any airline. The fastest route is IndiGo BLR → Ahmedabad → Bhuj with both legs same-day. Total flight time is 4 hours including layover. Many Bangalore guests fly direct to Ahmedabad and drive 5 hours to Dhordo via our pickup.
There is no direct Bangalore–Bhuj train. The standard route is YPR (Yesvantpur) Express → Ahmedabad, then change for Bhuj-bound trains. Total journey 36+ hours. We strongly recommend flying instead — the time and cost difference is small.
It will feel cold but is very manageable — pack a heavy fleece and a windcheater. Daytime is 18–26°C (warmer than Bangalore winter); nights drop to 7–12°C from late December to early February. Most tents have warm bedding and we provide heaters for Deluxe AC tents on request.
Yes — our chef can prepare pure Jain meals (no onion, garlic, root vegetables) on 24-hour advance notice. Mention Jain dietary requirements at booking. The Kutchi Thali has plenty of pure-veg dishes; Jain modifications are an extra step we handle in the kitchen.
For Bangalore travellers, we strongly recommend a minimum 2 Nights / 3 Days — given the long flight time, a single night feels rushed. The 3N/4D package is ideal as it lets you cover Dholavira UNESCO site as well, which Bangalore history-loving travellers consistently rate as the highlight.
