Family package enquiries are much easier to compare when everyone is counted correctly. “Two adults and two children” is a useful beginning, but it does not tell the booking team the children's ages, whether they share an existing bed or whether you need an additional mattress or a second tent.
This guide explains the child and occupancy wording in the supplied Dhordo Tent City brochure for 1 November 2026 to 7 March 2027. It is not a universal policy for every resort in Kutch. Keep the exact property and category visible when comparing offers, and use the family packages page to discuss the stay that fits your group.
What the published child policy says
The brochure states that children below six years stay complimentary. It also states that triple occupancy above age six is charged as an extra person with a mattress. Applicable GST is extra to published rates.
“Below six” means younger than six; it should not be rewritten as below five, below seven or all children. The separate extra-person wording uses “above age six”, so a child who is exactly six needs an explicit interpretation from the provider. We do not invent a rule to close that wording gap. Share the child's age on the travel date and ask for the applicable charge in the booking details.
Complimentary stay does not by itself establish an extra bed, a cot, a separate seat on every transfer or unrestricted occupancy. Those are different arrangements. If any one of them is essential to your trip, raise it before selecting a room rather than after payment.

| Accommodation category | Published extra mattress per night |
|---|---|
| Non-AC Swiss Cottage | ₹4,500 |
| Deluxe AC Swiss Cottage | ₹5,500 |
| Premium Tent | ₹5,500 |
| Super Premium Tent | ₹5,500 |
| Rajwadi Suite | ₹7,750 |
| Darbari Suite | ₹7,750 |
Starting rates exclude applicable GST. Final prices depend on dates, accommodation, occupancy and availability. Your written quote confirms the total before payment.
These are the published mattress figures. The selected-date quote should explain the extra person's accommodation, meals, taxes and any festive supplement, rather than leaving you to assume the mattress line answers every question. An extra-mattress tariff is also not proof that a fourth or fifth person is permitted in a particular tent.
Example: two adults and a child below six
For a one-night Non-AC Swiss Cottage, the published adult base is ₹6,300 per person on twin-sharing. Two adults therefore start at ₹12,600 before GST and selected-date adjustments. The brochure's complimentary child-stay rule applies to a child below six, subject to the permitted room arrangement being accepted.
If the child shares the existing bedding, ask the team to record that arrangement. If you need a separate mattress or cot, request its availability and charge explicitly. Do not assume that a complimentary stay creates a complimentary additional bed. The same principle applies when booking two nights or upgrading the accommodation category.
Example: a third guest using an extra mattress
Consider two adults and a third guest who is clearly above six, staying two nights in Deluxe AC. The two-adult starting base is ₹16,600 × two = ₹33,200. At the published mattress rate of ₹5,500 per night, two mattress nights add ₹11,000.
Those lines produce an illustrative base of ₹44,200 before GST and any applicable date or extra-person adjustments. This is arithmetic using published base figures, not a final selected-date family quote. Ask the provider to confirm the third guest's age treatment and full included services.
The point of the example is to compare the same arrangement consistently. A quote for two adults and an extra mattress should not be compared with a quote for three separate adult beds or an entire suite as though they were identical products.
Two children: one tent, two tents or a suite?
With two children, room capacity becomes as important as age. Send both ages and describe the desired sleeping arrangement. The team should confirm whether one tent is allowed, whether an extra mattress fits the permitted occupancy or whether two tents or a suite are the appropriate option.
Do not multiply a per-person tent rate by the number of family members without checking which child charges apply. Equally, do not assume all children are free because one is below six. Older children, extra bedding and a second room can change the total substantially.
The Rajwadi Suite's published rate is for two guests, while the Darbari Suite is quoted for four guests. These are different occupancy units from a per-person twin-sharing tent. Compare the total for the actual family and the number of bedrooms, not just the smallest visible rupee amount on the page.
What changes when you upgrade the category?
Moving from Non-AC to Deluxe AC or Premium changes the adult starting rate and may change the mattress charge. It does not remove the need to declare children or confirm occupancy. A bigger room is not automatically a larger permitted guest count.
If you are deciding between the two air-conditioned options, use the Deluxe AC vs Premium comparison. Think about time spent indoors, the actual bed arrangement and the comfort of using a mattress. Photographs help explain the space, but only the accepted booking details settle the allocation for your party.
Meals, transfers and the pace of the trip
The published Dhordo programme includes meals from arrival lunch to departure breakfast and coach transfers on fixed Bhuj timings. Explain dietary needs and any special seating or mobility requirement when enquiring. A menu request or preferred seat should not be assumed accepted simply because accommodation has been reserved.
Plan the arrival and departure around the youngest traveller's routine. An early train does not guarantee early room access; a late return train does not automatically extend check-out. The Bhuj arrival and departure guide covers those practical gaps without assuming free early check-in or an on-demand coach.
For one-night stays, check how the travel time and first-day sunset visit fit your family. With two nights, there is another day in the published programme, including the Kala Dungar excursion. Choose the duration for your family's pace, not just because the longer package has more items listed.
What to send for an accurate family quote
- Arrival date and number of nights.
- Number of adults and every child's age at travel.
- Exact property and preferred accommodation category.
- Whether children share existing bedding or need separate mattresses.
- Whether you prefer one room, two rooms or a suite.
- Train or flight times and any special transfer requirements.
- Dietary or accessibility requests that need confirmation.
Before payment, check that the total names the category, guest count, child treatment, bedding, GST and any supplement. Keep the cancellation and amendment terms with that total. A clear family booking begins with the right guest details; send yours through the enquiry options or call +91 92747 30220.
